Fourth field visit of WP1

Report of the fourth field visit of WP1. The partners visited the fish passage in Maffle on the Eastern Dender. The second and third locations visited were the waterfall with several thresholds under a bridge and a valve weir, which feeds a water mill, in Mévergnies.

Sediment ponds

Within WP2, two sediment ponds were constructed in 2010 and 2011: one at the Molenbeek in Erpe-Mere and one at the Vondelbeek on the border of Dendermonde and Lebbeke.

This field visit gave us a chance to get an overview of the South-West Othene creek restoration project. The day started with an explanation of the origins of the area, completed with a description of its current situation.

The first International Scheldt Week

The first International Scheldt Week took place from 15 to 22 May. The participants could enjoy a broad range of activities from the source to the estuary of the Scheldt River. The high attendance made the Scheldt and its tributaries better known with the public.

The launch of ScaldWIN

The launch seminar of the Interreg IVB-project ScaldWIN takes place on December 11, 2009 in Boulogne-sur-Mer. During the seminar, the coordinating management plan of the Scheldt district will also be approved.

Official launch ScaldWIN

On July 23rd, the first “International Monitoring Board” of the ScaldWIN project took place. The partnership agreement was signed on this meeting. This was the official start of the ScaldWIN project.
